OVER GRANULOSO-CELL TUMOR: GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS AND PROGNOSTIC FACTORS OF 32 CASES
Kartal Eğitim ve Araştırma Hastanesi Radyasyon Onkolojisi Kliniği
Between 1978 and 1990, 32 patients treated with the diagnosis of over granulosa cell tumor in İstanbul University Oncology Institute were retrospectively analysed for general characteristics and prognostic factors. Median age was 45 (11-68). The most common presenting symptom was abdominal pain (%44), followed by abdominal swelling (%34), abnormal vaginal bleeding (%16), and amenorhea (%6). Histologically twenty-five patients (%78) were identified as granulosa cell, 7 patients (%22) as granulosa-theca cell tumor. Thirteen patients (%41) had ascites, 19 (%59) were without ascites. The patients without postoperative residual tumor had 5 year survival significantly higher than the patients with residual tumor more than 2 cm in diameter (85% v.s.7%) (P=0.0001). 13 patients (41%) in stage I had 92% 5 year survival, 16 patients (50%) in stage III had 10% 5 year survival (P=0.0001). Age, histologic type, presenting symptom, parity, operation type and ascites status were evaluated and found to have no effect on survival. On the other hand, stage and the presence of postoperative residual tumor significantly effected the survival.
