SSK İzmir Eğitim Hastanesi Patoloji Bölümü, İzmir The prognostic significance of silver-stained nucleolar organization regions (AgNORs) was retrospectively studied among 50 patients with endometrial carcinoma. The number of AgNORs was evaluated from routinely processed paraffin sections by using x100 immersion objective. There was no statistically significant relationship between mean AgNOR counts and each of histologic grade, nuclear grade, stage and myometrial invasion depth. There was not a significant difference between mean AgNOR counts of the group that recurred and the group that did not. The mean AgNOR counts of cases that had lymphovascular involvement were significantly lower than those that did not have (p=0,04). The mean AgNOR counts obtained in this work showed that AgNOR method can not be used independently to predict biological behaviour of endometrial carcinoma. Keywords :
