OVARIAN TUMORS WITH LOW MALIGNANT POTENTIAL

SSK Tepecik Eğitim Hastanesi Patoloji Bölümü, İzmir Ovarian tumors with low malignant potential compose 9.2-20% of malignant epithelial ovarian tumors. 20 cases are diagnosed as ovarian tumors with low malignant potential in SSK Tepecik Teaching Hospital between 1987-1996. 15 of them were serous, 3 mucinous, one endometrioid and one Brenner tumor. While 15 cases were treated by palliative surgery (USO, BSO or TAH+BSO), 5 cases underwent radical operation. Stage of cases were; 1a in 13 cases, 1c in 6 cases and 3c in 1 case. Chemotherapy was applied to the 7 cases who were in stage 1 c and 3c. Five of them were grossly and microscopically negative for tumour on second-look laparatomy Thirteen cases with 28.3 months of median follow-up are disease free (no recurrence or metastasis).
