FEASIBILITY OF THE TREATMENT UNITS IN THE RADIATION ONCOLOGY DEPARTMENT OF NINE SEPTEMBER UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL

The efficiency of certain treatment units in our department, such as the Linear accelerator (Mevatron KD2) the Co 60 (Theratron-1000), the simulator (Mevasim) and the brachytherapy unit (Selectron HDR) has been shown statisticaly. We have used the weekly unit efficiency forms. The data was given to the computer and the relevant graphics were obtained. 1. Graphics demonstrating the number of patients who have to take the treatments and the ones who take treatments during the same week, were done. The difference between the two graphics shows the unit downtime, the side effects, the patient absence. This difference is 3.86% for Theratron-1000, 12.11 % for Mevatron KD2, 0.38% for the simulator and 0% for Selectron HDR. 2. Graphics which show the down time of the units were done. The down time for total 2840 hrs working hour during 71 weeks are 39.5 for Theratron-1000 (1.39%), 47.5 hrs for the simulator (1.67%), 300.5 hrs for Mevatron KD2 (10.58%). Selectron HDR was the only unit without any down time. 3. The graphic, which shows the daily dose differences of Mevatron KD2 was done. The weekly dose data showed a 4% maximum dose difference.
