Bakırköy Dr. Sadi Konuk Eğitim ve Araştırma Hastanesi KBB Kliniği, İstanbul Radical neck dissection (RND) described by Crile, is an effective therapeutic procedure in cervical metastasis of upper aerodigestive system's squamos cell carcinomas. The purpose of radical neck dissection is to remove cervical lymph nodes, which drain primary head and neck areas. In this study we investigated arteriovenous blood flow after neck dissection by Doppler ultrasound and compared the results under the light of other articles about functional results of neck dissection. Sixteen necks in 11 patents are studied. Investigations are done using ACUSON 128 XPU colored Doppler ultrasound. Studies are carried out 10 months postoperatively. In this study the structure, thickness and lumen width of A. carotis communis, internal carotis artery and V. jugularis interna are evaluated. All the investigation is made by horisontal and longitudinal sections. The results are compared with the parameters suggested by Zwibel. Patensy of flow of internal jugular vein is found 70-97% after the operations. Trombus and carotid artery pathology was not found. Keywords : neck dissection, colored doppler ultrasound, venous trombus
