Ege Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Pediyatrik Hematoloji- Onkoloji BD. Anaplastic large cell lymphoma is a high grade lymphoma that has been described in 1985 for the first time. It has similarities with all malignant lymphomas, Hodgkin disease being the most common. Some anaplastic large cell lymphomas have apparent fibrosis and carry Reed-Sternberg like cells. It is difficult to differentiate these type of tumours from nodular sclerosing Hodgkin's disease because immunophenotypically they are alike. Anaplastic large cell lymphoma should be considered in cases which show a clinical course different from Hodgkin disease. This report presents a male patient who was diagnosed as "Hodgkin's disease" in 1992 and was refractory to therapy. He was reevaluated histopathologically and immunohistochemically and the definitive diagnosis of anaplastic large cell lymphoma was made. Keywords :
