GATA Haydarpaşa Eğitim Hastanesi, İç Hastalıkları Kliniği
Diabetes Insipitus is an uncommon but well recognized complication of metastatic breast and broncogenic carcinomas. DI resulting from injury to the hypotalamic - neurohypophyseal axis occurs most commonly as a result of head trauma, neoplasm and granulomatous disease. A variety of tumors may metastasize to the pituitary gland. Metastasis to the pituitary selectively and commonly involves posterior pituitary rather than adenohypophysis. These are most frequently derived from a primary carcinoma of the breast and lung. In this article, two breast cancers and one malignant mesothelioma associated with diabetes Insipitus attributable to posterior pituitary metastasis were presented with a brief review of their clinical features, biochemical and radiological findings are reported with the literature review.
