In this retrospective study we analysed the treatment results of local RT vs RT with adjuvant and we tried to emphasize the superior! of RT + CT which we have taken under our treatment program since 1972. The study consists of 72 consecuvite ve patiens admitted to the dept. of RT, İstanbul Medical School between the years of 1965 and 1980. Between the years of 1965 and 1972 the cases were either treated by RT alone or RT with single agent CT. It is after 1973 that we have started to administer two agent or VAC CT. All the cases were primarily registered to our Bone Tumours Registry Center, which on fact, exists only in our medical school. The histopathological verifications were made and consequently the cases were than taken under treatment. Due to our vast experience with the 43 patients of the 1965 and 1972 pariod we started to add sumultaneous and adjuvant CT to our treatment protocols. But due to prohibitive factors such as non existence of certain anticancer drugs and the low socio-economic situation of our patients we were obliged to treat our patients we either with RT alone or RT plus single agent CT or RT plus double agent CT or RT plus VAC CT. But this situation gave us the opportunity of comparing our results and survival figures between three groups; RT alone vs RT plus double agent CT vs RT plus VAC CT. Following results are obtained; local radiotherapy, 28 cases, 29 % survival and local radiotherapy plus VAC scheme, 12 cases, 50 % survival.
