Cumhuriyet Üniv. Tıp Fak. Patoloji AD In our study, 837 germ cell tumors are examined. The cases are classified according to the classification proposed by World Health Organization (WHO). It is seen that 635 (76%) of them were pure and 202 (24 %) were combined tumors. Combined tumors, in the order of frequency are as fallows; combinations with embryonal carcinoma 133 cases (66 %), combinations with choriocarcinoma: 37 cases (18 %) and the other combinations: 32 cases (16 %). One of the component of the combinations was teratoma in 160 (79 %) of the cases, and embryonal carcinoma in 159 (79 %). Seminoma in 71 (35 %), endodermal sinus tumor in 45 (22 %), choriocarcinoma in 37 (18 %). The age range was between 15 and 65. The average age was30. In 16 of 76 cases in which the surrounding testis tissue was examined, malignant intratubular germ cells were seen. For the histopathologic designation of the components we conclude that one should have many sections in these tumors. When synicitial cells are seen, those areas must be examined very carefully for the diagnosis of choriocarcinoma. Keywords :
